Hi there! My name is Aniek. I am from the Netherlands, currently studying in Mechelen, Belgium. I grew up and studied in Rotterdam before I decided to go backpacking in Australia in 2020. When I got back to the Netherlands I decided that I wanted to continue studying, but this was somewhat delayed due to Covid-19.

Currently in my last year as a International Communication and Media student at the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences. Looking for an internship from September 2024 till January 2025. I am excited to start gaining experience in communication and public relations with the internship.

One of my biggest passions is travelling and exploring different cultures. Below you can see some of the countries I have travelled to and my experiences there.

Thailand

Solo backpacking

Thailand was my latest big solo backpacking trip in the summer of 2022. I spent 3 months travelling through Thailand and spent a good amount of time on Koh Tao. Would love to go back there some day.

Australia

Solo backpacking

In October 2019 I boarded a plane with a 12 month visa for Australia. This was my first solo backpacking trip. Not nowing if I would love or hate it, therefore not knowing if I would end up back home within a month or sitting out my visa. Well, to make it short I ended up staying for 50 weeks. As you can probably guess yourself this overlapped with Covid-19. I ended up deciding to stay in Australia at the time. Looking back at it while writing this, it is still the best decisions I ever made. Meaning boarding that plane and deciding to spend some time of Covid-19 over there.

Vacation

The last family trip with my parents and sister. Off to the USA. Starting of in New York before flying to San Francisco. Where we ended up renting a car and having a road trip. Visiting Yosémite, the Antelope Canyon, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and much more.
